Why cant NJ be recognized by NFPA, Pro Board or IFSAC for Fire 1 or any training? I am having problems trying to get my certifications transferred to PA and none of the fire schools will accept it at all. Any information on this would be appreciated.

I know some time ago back in 1999 or 2000 the company I belonged to at the time completed a National Firefighter Certification "Examination" which when submitted with our current certifications allowed for several of our members to be pro-board certified through the National Fire Acdemy in Emmitsburg, Md. I don't know if any of that's changed in the last 10 years...I'm not as active as I probably should be but I do keep up on my training....Haven't herd of any changes

Mr. Hoffman... There is currently a regional project underway in South Jersey, spearheaded by the Camden County Fire Academy, Cherry Hill FD, and the Salem County Fire Academy, to attain PROBOARD status for FF1 certification as well as many other certification levels. The application process is underway but should probanly take several more months to complete the process. Once that is done you will be able to gain your PROBOARD certs through the regional project, which at this point includes the aforementioned organiaztions as well as Gloucester, Cumberland, Atlantic & Cape May County fire academies. The effort was begun after several attempts at the State level to commence this type of process. The wheels of government turn slowly as you know... I love that NEXTEL commercial, What if FF ran the country? progress is being reported in the PROBOARD front... More info to follow.

You need to take a Pro Board test then PA and any other IFSAC state will recognize it. I have been down this road before when i moved to NC. Bucks County PA is where i took my Pro Board test they were easy to work with. Good Luck

Thanks for the help. I have got my fire 1 through Mont. Co. fire Academy through a challenge program. I am doing the same for fire 2 in Jan.
