ROXBURY, NJ — Firefighters from Roxbury were dispatched to Horseshoe Lake for a man who fell through the ice.

According to Police and Fire officials, a man ran out onto the ice to get his dog when both fell through. The dog was able to climb out on his own, but the man had to cling onto the ice shelf to stay a float.

While firefighters donned their water rescue suits, officers attempted to reach the man with rope bags, but the man was just out of reach.

A rescue crew with made their way out onto the ice and successfully rescued the man.

Firefighters from Roxbury and Randolph responded to the scene.
